Voices In Prayer (VIP)God calls each one of us to service. Figuring out exactly what our service is and how we are to go about doing it is a process of prayer. This call process becomes even more involved when we must discern the call from God for our congregation. Prayer, study, conversation, and meditation are integral parts of this process. These prayers are written for our use in the process of findig guidance from God's Holy Spirit for the mission of our congregation. We have a team of persons who pray on Mondays 5 times throughout the day - 9:00 am, 12:00 noon, 3:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 9:00 pm. Usually each time has 2 individuals involved, but sometimes it is just one. The people praying start out with a minute for silent meditaion and preparation, and then continue, usually praying back and forth. They first ask for God to come and they will listen and be open. Then they ask for the Holy Spirit to empower them and other members of the congregation. They pray that our congregation will "go therefore and make disciples" and so pray for groups within the congregation. They pray that our church will "teach, preach, and baptize in the name of the Fathr, Son, and Holy Spirit", and so pray for individuals involved in leadership positions. They ask that God will shower the congregation with grace, love, and peace and ask for safety. At this time is when they are now praying for members in the service. They read scripture and meditate, and then ask that God remember our congregation in specific needs, and then ask that they may be scattered to share love through Christ. The session ends with the Lord's prayer and the dismissal, "go in peace to serve the Lord." "Thanks be to God!" MusicSenior Choir (Pam Edwards, conductor) ![]() The Senior Choir rehearses every Wednesday evening at 7:15. Individual choir members are always encouraged to share their musical talents, vocal and instrumental, most often during the summer when the choir does not sing as a group. Pam Edwards, the conductor/organist, teaches in the Geneseo school system and is a member of the highly-regarded Nova Singers. She programs a wide variety of music ranging from classical to contemporary. Orchestra (Pam Edwards, conductor) ![]() The orchestra plays on Christmas Eve and other times throughout the year. Practice takes place on an as-needed basis - anyone who plays, or has played, a musical instrument is welcome!
